The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), in partnership with the Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation (OHCSF), has taken a major step toward advancing Nigeria’s digital transformation agenda with the hosting of a workshop on the implementation of the Digital Literacy Action Plan for federal civil servants.

The event, held at the OHCSF headquarters, underscored the federal government’s commitment to building a digitally empowered workforce in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda of improving governance for effective service delivery.

Representing NITDA’s Director General, Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, the Acting Director of the Digital Literacy and Capacity Building Department, Dr. Ahmad Yusuf Tambuwal, highlighted the progress achieved through the Digital Literacy for All (DL4ALL) education programme. He explained the provisions of the training and certification scheme designed to equip civil servants with essential digital skills, noting that the workshop provides a vital platform to fast-track the adoption of digital tools to boost efficiency and productivity in the service.

Also speaking at the event, the Permanent Secretary, Career Management Office of the OHCSF, Mrs. Fatima Sugra Mahmood, who represented the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs. Didi Esther Walson-Jack, encouraged civil servants to adopt a citizen-centric mindset in their service delivery. She urged participants to actively engage with the training, leverage digital solutions, and work toward achieving a paperless ecosystem across the civil service by the end of the year.

The workshop featured immersive sessions, onboarding participants to digital platforms and providing practical training on modern tools. The initiative reinforces NITDA’s resolve to build a digitally inclusive public workforce, while aligning with the national vision of a technologically advanced and citizen-focused civil service.
