An Ilorin-based housewife, Mrs. Fauziya Ibrahim, on Wednesday pleaded with an Area Court not to grant her husband, Hamza Musbau, his request for divorce.
“I have been married to my husband for 16 years and I want to remain in this marriage,” Ibrahim told the court.
Earlier, Musbau had prayed the court to dissolve the marriage, citing “lack of love and affection.”
Ruling on the matter, the Judge, Mr. Toyin Aluko, noted that the Holy Quran provides room for both divorce and settlement. He advised Ibrahim to make efforts to reconcile with her husband and resolve their differences.
The case was adjourned until October 26 for a report of settlement.
