Rwandan President Dismisses Over 200 Soldiers from Defense Force
Rwandan President Paul Kagame has removed over 200 military personnel from the Rwanda Defense Force (RDF), including 21 senior and junior officers. The RDF announced the dismissals in a statement on Friday.
Among those dismissed were officers Martin Nzaramba and Etienne Uwimana, along with 19 other senior and junior officers. In addition, President Kagame authorized the termination of contracts for 195 enlisted soldiers.
Although the RDF did not provide specific reasons for the dismissals, under Rwandan law, military personnel can be discharged for “gross misconduct.” The announcement did not elaborate further on the details surrounding the decision.
