A senatorial hopeful for Benue South Senatorial District on the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Bashir Hassan Ekoja, has urged the people of the zone to embrace unity, mobilisation and strategic preparation ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In his New Year message to the people of Benue South, Ekoja described 2026 as a defining year that goes beyond the regular calendar cycle, noting that it marks the beginning of a crucial political journey towards reclaiming the people’s mandate.

“As we step into the year 2026, I bring you warm greetings and heartfelt wishes for peace, progress, and prosperity,” he said.

According to him, the new year represents “a year of awakening, mobilization, and preparation,” stressing that it is a period when the collective voices of the people must be raised in pursuit of a better future.

Ekoja lamented what he described as years of poor governance and unfulfilled promises in Benue South, Benue State and the country at large, but expressed optimism that a new direction is possible through collective action.

“For too long, Benue South, Benue State, and Nigeria have endured the weight of poor governance and unfulfilled promises. But together, we can chart a new course — one anchored on fairness, opportunity, and true development for all,” he stated.

The ADC chieftain said the push to wrest political power from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) should be driven by hope rather than bitterness, adding that the goal is to build a system that works for ordinary citizens.

“The struggle to recover power from the APC is not born of bitterness, but of hope — hope that we can build a system that truly works for the people; hope that our youths will have opportunities, our farmers will prosper, and our communities will feel the impact of good leadership again,” Ekoja said.

He called on stakeholders and residents of the district to make 2026 a year of unity, strategy and purpose, as preparations intensify for what he described as a decisive victory in 2027.

Ekoja concluded his message with prayers for divine guidance and blessings for the people of Benue South, Benue State and the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
