Gov. Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State on Tuesday swore in three commissioners and three special advisers 220 days to the end of his administration.
Yahaya congratulated the newly inaugurated public officials, stating that their appointments were part of his administration’s efforts to strengthening the machinery of government while ensuring that it remained focused, effective and responsive to the needs of the people of Gombe State.
The governor said the appointments came at a critical period in his administration “when we are intensifying efforts to consolidate our achievements, complete ongoing projects, and fulfil our remaining commitments to the people of Gombe State”.
Yahaya tasked the commissioners to work closely with their Permanent Secretaries and other senior officials to ensure effective coordination, prudent management of resources and timely implementation of government decisions.
He urged the special advisers to provide sound, practical and timely advice that would strengthen decision-making and improve policy implementation while identifying emerging challenges, proposing workable solutions and supporting the effective coordination of government initiatives within their areas of assignment.
“You must avoid unnecessary bureaucratic delays, strengthen internal accountability and ensure that every available resource is directed towards delivering tangible benefits to our people as we do not have the luxury of time nor the resources to accommodate inefficiency, complacency or administrative lapses.
“The remaining months of this administration are not a period for slowing down, rather, they must be a period of renewed energy, greater discipline, and intensified service delivery.
“We must work even harder to ensure that the gains we have recorded since 2019 are consolidated and that the foundations we have laid continue to serve our people long after we have left office, he said”
Yahaya urged them to discharge their duties with the fear of God, integrity, justice, equity and fairness, warning that his administration will not tolerate corruption, indiscipline, abuse of office, or any conduct capable of undermining the credibility of government.
“We must conduct ourselves in ways that preserve public trust, promote peaceful political engagement and strengthen the integrity of our democratic institutions”.
