2026: Religious leaders pray for peace in Gombe, Nigeria

The Kaltungo Chiefdom has marked the end of the year with a joint prayer session, as religious leaders prayed for peace and prosperity of Gombe State and Nigeria while urging residents to continue living in peace and unity throughout 2026.

The prayers were held on Wednesday at the palace of the Paramount Ruler of Kaltungo, Alhaji Sale Muhammad, and brought together Muslim and Christian leaders, traditional rulers and community members.

The prayer session was led by the Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Kaltungo and Shongom Chapter, Pastors Babale Garus and Ewud Timothy, alongside the Gombe State Chief Imam, Alhaji Aliyu Hammari, and the Secretary of Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI), Sale Danburan.

Speaking at the event, the religious leaders stressed the need for peaceful coexistence, respect and understanding among people of different religions and ethnic groups.
They said peace was necessary for development and praised the Paramount Ruler for promoting unity in the chiefdom.

In his remarks, Alhaji Muhammad thanked the religious leaders and the people for their prayers and support, and assured them of his commitment to peace and harmony.

He called on residents to maintain tolerance and unity as they move into the new year.
The programme ended with prayers for peace, security and progress in Kaltungo Chiefdom, Gombe State and the country at large.
