US Flu Cases Surge Past 15 Million as Hospitalizations and Deaths Rise, CDC Says
Influenza activity remains high across the United States, with millions of people affected as the current flu season continues to intensify, according to new data released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
The health agency said on Friday that it estimates at least 15 million flu-related illnesses have occurred nationwide so far this season. The outbreak has also led to approximately 180,000 hospitalizations and 7,400 deaths, underscoring the growing strain on the healthcare system.
CDC officials noted that flu activity is elevated in many parts of the country, with hospitals continuing to report increased admissions linked to severe flu symptoms, particularly among children, older adults and those with underlying health conditions.
Public health experts continue to urge vaccination, good hygiene practices and early medical attention for severe symptoms as the season progresses.
The CDC said it will continue to monitor the situation closely and provide updates as more data becomes available.
