Tinubu Arrives in Türkiye for State Visit to Boost Bilateral Ties
President Bola Tinubu has arrived in Ankara, the capital of the Republic of Türkiye, for a state visit aimed at strengthening diplomatic and economic relations between both countries.
According to a statement issued on Monday in Abuja by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Mr Bayo Onanuga, the President’s aircraft landed at the Ankara Esenboğa Airport at exactly 9:03 p.m. local time.
Tinubu was received on arrival by a Turkish government delegation led by the Minister of National Education, Mr Yusuf Tekin. Also present were the Chargé d’Affaires at the Nigerian Embassy in Türkiye, Ambassador Zayyad Abdulsalam, alongside other embassy officials.
At his hotel, the President was welcomed by several members of the Nigerian delegation, including the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Prince Lateef Fagbemi (SAN); the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr Wale Edun; the Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Mr Dele Alake; and the Minister of Defence, retired Gen. Christopher Musa.
Other officials in attendance were the Minister of Interior, Mr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo; Minister of Women Affairs, Hajiya Imaan Suleiman-Ibrahim; Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Mr Kingsley Udeh (SAN); Minister of State for Industry, Mr John Enoh; Chairman of the House Committee on Defence, Rep. Babajimi Benson; Special Adviser on Policy Communication, Mr Daniel Bwala; and the Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency, Ambassador Mohammed Mohammed.
The visit is expected to deepen the cordial relationship between Nigeria and Türkiye and open up new areas of cooperation for mutual benefit.
During the state visit, President Tinubu is scheduled to hold bilateral talks with his Turkish counterpart, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, as well as witness the signing of several Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) and participate in other official engagements.
