Wike Commissions Pro-Tinubu Radio Station to Boost 2027 Re-Election Campaign
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and former Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has commissioned a radio station in Rivers State to support President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The station, Majority FM 89.5, was launched for the Rivers State Renewed Hope Ambassadors and unveiled at the group’s secretariat in Port Harcourt. The development was disclosed by Wike’s media aide, Lere Olayinka, who shared a video of the commissioning ceremony.
The facility is equipped with multiple studios for interviews and broadcasting, as well as a maintenance unit, aimed at driving political mobilisation and public engagement.
Speaking at the event, Wike described the radio station as a clear demonstration of loyalty and commitment to President Tinubu’s ambition, stressing that support must go beyond words.
“Our commitment is not by newspaper. It is shown by action. We are working for President Ahmed Tinubu. We don’t need a governor to mobilise for Mr President; we have what it takes to stand on our own,” Wike said.
He noted that the group includes senators, lawmakers, council chairmen, National Assembly members and party leaders from both the APC and PDP, adding that they had collectively mobilised resources to support the President’s campaign.
“If you say you are supporting someone, you don’t wait for the person to bring resources. You must make your own commitment, and that is what our leaders have done,” he added.
The commissioning comes amid rising political activities ahead of the 2027 elections. Last week, Wike warned that he and his supporters would forcibly enter the Yakubu Gowon Stadium in Port Harcourt for their next rally if the Rivers State Government continues to deny them access to the facility.
He issued the warning during the inauguration of senatorial and local government coordinators of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, accusing the state government of unfairly blocking their application to use the stadium.
“We applied to use the Yakubu Gowon Stadium, and they refused. If we apply again and they refuse, we will break it and nothing will happen,” Wike said.
He also declared that Rivers State would continue to lead political mobilisation efforts in support of President Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections.
