DSS Arrests Suspect Over Attack on Peter Obi, ADC Leaders in Benin City
The Department of State Services (DSS) has arrested a suspect, Udeme, also known as Sunday Stephen, in connection with the attack on former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi and other chieftains of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Benin City, Edo State.
According to security sources, the arrest followed a detailed investigation into the violent incident, which occurred during a political gathering at the residence of John Odigie-Oyegun, a former national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The DSS said preliminary findings linked the suspect directly to the disruption and нападение (attack) on the political leaders, prompting swift action by operatives to track and apprehend him.
Authorities confirmed that the suspect is currently in custody and will be subjected to further interrogation, while investigations continue to uncover the full circumstances, motives behind the attack, and any possible accomplices.
The DSS reaffirmed its commitment to protecting political actors and maintaining public order, warning that anyone involved in violence or threats to national security would be decisively dealt with in accordance with the law.
