The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has commenced the distribution of relief materials to victims of recent banditry attacks in Shanga, Yauri and Bunza Local Government Areas of Kebbi State.

The exercise was flagged off in Birnin Kebbi by the Director-General of NEMA, Zubaida Umar, as part of the Federal Government’s humanitarian response efforts under the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

In a statement issued by the NEMA Press Unit in Abuja on Monday, Umar expressed sympathy with the Kebbi State Government and the affected communities, noting that the intervention was designed to provide timely support and ensure the welfare and safety of vulnerable citizens.

She explained that the relief items were selected based on an assessment of the most urgent needs of the affected populations, stressing that the initiative reflects the Federal Government’s commitment to supporting communities impacted by insecurity.

The event was attended by the Wazirin Gwandu, Abubakar Umar, who represented the Emir of Gwandu and commended the Federal Government and NEMA for the prompt intervention.

Also speaking, the Wife of the Kebbi State Governor, Zainab Nasare Nasir, said the relief materials would provide much-needed succour to the affected communities and help ease their humanitarian challenges.
