The Governor of Edo State, Monday Okpebholo, has called on eligible youths across the state to take advantage of the ongoing Nigerian Army 91 Regular Recruits Intake by enlisting in the military.
The appeal was contained in a statement issued on Tuesday in Benin by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Dr. Patrick Ebojele, ahead of the scheduled visit of a Nigerian Army sensitisation team to the state.
According to the statement, the sensitisation exercise, which runs from April 8 to April 14, is designed to engage, guide, and support prospective applicants through the recruitment process, ensuring that interested candidates are well-informed and adequately prepared.
Governor Okpebholo urged qualified young men and women in the state to seize the opportunity, describing the recruitment exercise as a gateway to employment, discipline, and national service.
“The opportunity offers a pathway to meaningful employment, national service and personal development through the Nigerian Army recruitment process.
“I urge Edo youths to come forward in large numbers to improve the state’s participation and meet its national quota in the Army recruitment exercise.
“It is a chance for young Edo people to build disciplined and purposeful careers,” he said.
The governor also called on key stakeholders—including parents, guardians, traditional rulers, community leaders, religious institutions, and youth organisations—to play an active role in mobilising eligible candidates within their communities.
He further advised interested applicants to visit the official Nigerian Army recruitment portal for comprehensive information on eligibility criteria, requirements, and application procedures, while stressing the importance of proper documentation.
Candidates, he noted, must ensure that all necessary documents are complete before presenting themselves at designated sensitisation centres during the exercise period.
“The Edo State Government remains committed to creating opportunities for youths and calls for collective support to ensure the success of this exercise,” he said.
The initiative is expected to boost Edo State’s representation in the recruitment exercise while providing a viable pathway for youths seeking structured careers and national engagement.
