Donald Trump warns of Iran strikes if no deal is reached before ceasefire deadline

US President Donald Trump has said the United States could resume military action against Iran if ongoing negotiations fail to produce a deal before the current ceasefire expires on Wednesday.

Speaking in an interview on CNBC, Trump indicated he is unwilling to extend the two-week truce to allow more time for talks. “They have to negotiate,” he said, adding that Iran could regain stability and strength if it agrees to a deal with the United States.

Trump suggested that failure to reach an agreement would likely result in renewed military strikes. He expressed confidence, however, that a deal remains possible, saying the US could still “end up with a great deal” to conclude the weeks-long conflict.

The president also pointed to significant damage already inflicted on Iran’s military capabilities, claiming US actions had weakened its naval and air forces and disrupted leadership structures. He acknowledged that these developments have complicated negotiations but said they may also create conditions for more “rational” leadership.

The first round of US-Iran talks earlier in April ended without a breakthrough, and uncertainty continues to surround the next phase of negotiations as the ceasefire deadline approaches.
