The Katsina State Police Command has arrested a 28-year-old man suspected of serving as an informant to bandits, with alleged criminal charms recovered during the operation.

The Command’s spokesperson, DSP Abubakar Sadiq-Aliyu, confirmed the arrest in a statement issued on Thursday in Katsina. He said the suspect, Abdullahi Abdullahi, was apprehended following credible intelligence from the Musawa Divisional Police Headquarters.

According to the police, the suspect confessed during interrogation to working with his brother in criminal activities, including issuing threats to victims.

“We called a victim and demanded the sum of N10 million or we would kill him,” the suspect reportedly said.

Sadiq-Aliyu added that the suspect admitted to involvement in similar offences in the past.

Reacting to the development, the Commissioner of Police, Umar Ali-Fage, directed intensified efforts to track down other suspects who remain at large.

He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to combating banditry and warned that individuals aiding criminal groups would be decisively dealt with.

The police also urged residents to stay alert and promptly report any suspicious activities to the nearest security agency.
