The Civil Liberty Organisation (CLO) has urged the All Progressives Congress (APC) to strictly adhere to its internal rules and due process to strengthen accountability and promote good governance.
Mr. Steve Aluko, Director of the civil society organisation, made the call in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in Jos.
Aluko stressed that the ruling party must respect its internal timetable and avoid altering scheduled election dates, warning that such actions could disadvantage some members of the party.
“As a leading party, APC must learn to comply with its own rules so that it can serve as an example for other political parties to emulate,” he said.
He also urged the APC leadership to address the issue of conflicting election results being announced by different individuals at different times, describing the development as misleading and capable of eroding public confidence in the process.
According to him, the party should also embrace technology by introducing electronic voting systems that would enable members to vote digitally and improve confidence in its electoral process.
