The Kano Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has launched a special patrol operation, codenamed “Operation Guduma,” aimed at strengthening enforcement against traffic offences across the state.

Speaking during the inauguration of the exercise in Kano on Monday, Yusuf Aliyu-Haruna, the officer in charge of Federal Operations at FRSC Headquarters, urged personnel to remain disciplined, professional and committed in the discharge of their duties.

Aliyu-Haruna directed officers deployed to the Gadar Lado axis along the Kano–Zaria Road to ensure strict compliance and assess the operational effectiveness of the exercise.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the operation targets offences such as “the use of fake diplomatic number plates, and overloading.

“Others are mix-loading of goods and passengers, and the movement of vehicles carrying unlatched containers that could cause crashes or obstruct highways”.

Aliyu-Haruna also called on motorists and transport operators to obey traffic regulations and avoid dangerous practices that endanger lives and property.

The Kano Sector Commander, Idris Mohammed, urged motorists using the highways to drive responsibly.
