Operatives of the Kebbi State Hisbah Board have arrested a man allegedly discovered hiding inside a “Ghana Must-Go” bag at the residence of a married woman in the Badariya area of Birnin Kebbi.

The Hisbah Board, an agency under the Kebbi State Ministry of Religious Affairs, confirmed the incident in a statement issued on Tuesday, May 19, 2026.

According to the Director of Sharia at the board, Sirajo Kamba, residents alerted Hisbah officials around 12:15 a.m. on Monday after noticing a man entering the woman’s residence under suspicious circumstances.

Kamba said the residents suspected an illicit relationship, which they believed violated Islamic teachings, prompting them to report the matter to the authorities.

“Upon receiving the report, the Kebbi Hisbah Board swiftly deployed officers to investigate,” he said.

He explained that when officials arrived at the house, the woman initially denied that anyone else was inside the residence. However, she later permitted officers to conduct a search.

During the search, the suspect was allegedly found concealed inside a “Ghana Must-Go” bag within the house.

Kamba added that preliminary investigations pointed to an alleged romantic relationship between the man and the married woman.

According to him, both suspects reportedly admitted to the allegations during interrogation and are expected to be arraigned in court for prosecution under Islamic law.
