The All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial primaries in Gombe South Senatorial District were conducted peacefully amid tight security.

Speaking after casting his vote at Kulishin in Shongom Local Government Area, Mr Jerry Damara commended party loyalists and residents of the constituency for their peaceful participation in the exercise.

He also appreciated the Governor of Gombe State, Inuwa Yahaya, for the confidence reposed in him, assuring that if elected in the general election, he would justify the trust by working diligently for the people.

The senatorial aspirant further stated that he had already undertaken several community development projects, including the drilling of boreholes and other humanitarian activities across the constituency.

Damara also called on other aspirants who contested in the primary election to support whoever emerges victorious for the overall success of the APC at all levels.

Gombe South Senatorial District comprises Shongom, Kaltungo, Billiri and Balanga Local Government Areas.

Meanwhile, the APC senatorial primaries for Gombe Central Senatorial District were also conducted peacefully.

Speaking with journalists shortly after casting his vote on Monday in Deba, headquarters of Yamaltu/Deba Local Government Area, retired DCP Ahmed Muhammed, one of the senatorial aspirants, described the exercise as peaceful and transparent.

Muhammed expressed confidence that he would emerge victorious when the final results are announced.
“I am satisfied with the conduct of the exercise. The process was peaceful, and I am hopeful of being declared the winner.

“What we are witnessing here in Yamaltu/Deba is calm and orderly. Everything is moving normally, and to the glory of God, there has been no incident,” he said.

He added that the peaceful atmosphere reflected the maturity and commitment of APC supporters in the area, expressing optimism that the process would conclude successfully without disruption.

The aspirant also noted the enthusiasm among residents and party members, saying many people believe the time has come for Yamaltu/Deba to have stronger representation at the National Assembly.

“You can see the excitement among the people. Many believe the time has come for Yamaltu/Deba to have a stronger voice at the national level,” he added.

According to him, the aspiration was not about preventing others from contesting, but about what he described as “God’s appointed time” for the people of the area.

APC members in Yamaltu/Deba and Akko Local Government Areas, which make up Gombe Central Senatorial District, participated actively in the exercise held across various centres.
