Nigeria’s Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo will, on Wednesday, deliver a keynote speech at the London Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Aviation Finance and Cape Town Convention compliance.

‎Mr Obafemi Bajomo, the Senior Special Adviser on Foreign Direct Investments to the minister disclosed this in a telephone interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday.

NAN reports that the Cape Town Convention protects aircraft financing by granting creditors internationally recognised rights during defaults or insolvency cases involving aviation assets.

Bajomo said the Minister’s invitation to the London Annual AGM signals growing international confidence in Nigeria’s aviation reform efforts under Keyamo’s leadership.

He added that the invitation also proved that Nigeria is becoming a contributor to the global conversation shaping aviation finance.

‎”On May 20 in London, at its Annual General Meeting, Keyamo, will deliver a keynote address on “CTC Compliance and Aviation Financing in Nigeria. This invitation is far more than symbolic.

‎‘’It is a powerful international endorsement of Nigeria’s reform trajectory

“It is also an acknowledgment that under Keyamo’s stewardship, Nigeria is no longer simply a subject of aviation reform but global contributor in shaping aviation finance,” he said

Bajomo noted that Nigeria is gradually shifting from a perceived high-risk market to a reform-driven aviation investment destination.

He explained that stronger legal protections and policy reforms could reduce borrowing costs and improve aircraft leasing opportunities for Nigerian operators.

Bajomo described Nigeria’s evolving aviation framework as a potential model for broader aviation transformation across Africa.

He noted that Keyamo’s agenda includes investor engagement, bilateral diplomacy, and partnerships with global manufacturers like Boeing and Airbus.

He added that aviation growth depends not only on infrastructure but also on strong legal systems and investor confidence.

Bajomo said Keyamo’s reforms  mark a turning point for Nigerian and African aviation by improving trust, financing access, and long-term industry sustainability.
