The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has urged youths in Gombe State to take advantage of the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) to register as well as collect their Permanent Voter Cards.

Hajiya Maimuna Abubakar, the State Director, NOA, Gombe State Office made the call in an interview with our Correspondent in Gombe on Friday.

She described the PVC as a vital democratic tool that enables a citizen to elect whoever should lead their society, hence acquiring it should be a “compulsory civic duty” and not optional.

Abubakar said that the culture of waiting for the last minute to call for extension should be jettisoned especially if they want to participate in the 2027 general elections.

According to her, some youths have the habit of complaining about politics but often refuse to heed calls to participate in political activities to make the change they want to see in governance.

“Your PVC is not just a card, it is your voice and your power to shape the next four years.

“You (youths who are 18 years and above) should ensure you register, collect the PVCs and use it on election day to make the choice you want.

“One of the ways to show your love for the country is by owning a PVC and participating in political decision making,” she said.

Abubakar said NOA at the state level, has been engaging critical stakeholders on the need to sensitise residents on PVCs registration and collection across the state.

The state director further urged sustained advocacy towards ensuring that more youths and women were registered while urging those who have registered to collect their PVCs.

Our Correspondent reports that
the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had in May announced that the current nationwide CVR which resumed on May 11 was its third and final phase.

The commission said that the exercise would end on July 10, 2026, hence urged citizens who are 18 and above to seize the opportunity to do so.
