Yobe Govt Pledges N100m, Personal Support for Borno Flood Victims
The Yobe State government has pledged N100 million to assist victims of the recent floods in Borno State.
This was disclosed in a statement on Saturday by Alhaji Mamman Mohammed, Director-General Press and Media Affairs to Governor Mai Mala Buni. Buni personally delivered the donation to Borno’s Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum, during a sympathy visit in Maiduguri.
In addition to the government’s contribution, Governor Buni announced a personal donation of food items worth N50 million to further aid those affected by the disaster.
Describing the humanitarian crisis as “catastrophic,” Buni emphasized the need for collective support. “Yobe and Borno are like twin states that have faced similar challenges and must stand together,” he said.
He also offered prayers for the deceased and wished a speedy recovery for those injured.
Governor Zulum expressed deep gratitude to the Yobe government and its people for their generosity, stating, “The people of Yobe and Borno remain united, and this support strengthens the bond between us. We deeply appreciate Governor Buni’s continued solidarity.”
