The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 8 Division of the Nigerian Army and Commander, Sector 2 Joint Task Force (North West), Operation Fasan Yamma, Maj.-Gen. Bamidele Koughna, has conducted an operational visit to frontline troops in Shinkafi and Isa Local Government Areas of Sokoto State to evaluate their combat readiness and operational performance.
According to security sources, the visit took place on June 24 and included senior formation commanders.
During the visit, the GOC was received at the 26 Battalion base in Shinkafi by the Commanding Officer, who presented an operational briefing on the prevailing security situation and ongoing military activities in the area.
Maj.-Gen. Koughna engaged with troops and provided tactical and logistical directives aimed at strengthening operational efficiency and supporting mission objectives.
The GOC also visited the Forward Operating Base (FOB) in Jangeru, where he inspected the Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) surveillance infrastructure and reviewed its effectiveness in monitoring identified terrorist movement corridors to improve situational awareness.
The delegation later proceeded to the Forward Operating Base in Isa for further interaction with personnel deployed in the area.
The operational assessment concluded without any reported incident.
