Troops of Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP) have intercepted a herd of cattle grazing in a restricted area of Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State after the herders fled on sighting security personnel.

Security sources told Zagazola Makama that the troops of Sector 4 OPEP acted on intelligence regarding illegal grazing in Nyerwie village at about 3:30 p.m. on Friday.

According to the sources, the troops arrived at the location and found a herd of cattle grazing within the restricted area.

The herders reportedly abandoned the livestock and escaped into nearby bushes as the troops approached.

The intercepted cattle were later moved to a secure location for necessary administrative procedures, while security operatives have launched efforts to identify and apprehend the fleeing herders.
