Ebola Patient, Partner Evacuated from Nigeria on Medivac Plane
A woman suspected to be Nigeria’s index case of Ebola disease and her partner have reportedly been evacuated from the country aboard a medical evacuation aircraft.
Arise TV reported that the couple were flown out of Nigeria at about 6 a.m. on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, after a medivac plane arrived at the airport to facilitate the evacuation.
A video circulating online showed medical personnel and crew members preparing to evacuate the woman, whose condition reportedly required specialised medical transportation.
According to the report, the Federal Government planned to announce the evacuation after the aircraft had taken off and left Nigerian airspace.
The woman reportedly arrived in Nigeria from Uganda before falling ill and being admitted to a hospital in Abuja, where she subsequently tested positive for the disease.
Meanwhile, 53 people who had reportedly come into contact with her have been identified and are being monitored by health authorities as part of efforts to prevent further transmission.
Further official details about the evacuation, the couple’s destination and their current medical condition were not immediately available.
