Italy’s Foreign Minister, Antonio Tajani, has alleged that pro-Russian hackers have leaked his personal information on the dark web, exposing him and members of his family to threats and intimidation.

Tajani, who also serves as the country’s Deputy Prime Minister, disclosed the development on Saturday, November 7, 2026, in a statement posted on social media.

According to him, cybercriminals have been circulating his personal data for several days while attempting to obtain additional information about him and his loved ones.

The minister linked the alleged cyberattack to Italy’s continued support for Ukraine amid its ongoing conflict with Russia.

He said the hackers were targeting him because of the Italian government’s position in defence of Ukraine’s sovereignty, democracy and independence.

Tajani further disclosed that the attackers were seeking additional details about his family members and were reportedly willing to pay for such information.

Despite the threats, the Italian foreign minister maintained that he would not be intimidated, vowing to continue working to protect his ministry and the country.

He also pledged to strengthen cybersecurity measures and cooperation with Italy’s international allies to combat cybercriminal activities.

Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni expressed solidarity with Tajani, condemning the publication and attempted sale of confidential information belonging to government officials.

Meloni described the incident as a serious concern that requires a firm response.

The incident comes amid growing cybersecurity concerns across Europe, with several institutions and organisations reportedly facing cyberattacks in recent weeks.

However, Tajani did not disclose the specific personal information that had been leaked, while investigations into the incident continue.

Russia has not publicly commented on the allegation.
