Edo Governor-Elect Okpebholo Promises Inclusive Leadership, Presents Certificate to President Tinubu
Edo Governor-elect Monday Okpebholo has declared a new era for the state, following his recent electoral victory. Speaking on Thursday after presenting his certificate of return to President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, Okpebholo expressed his commitment to serving all Edo people, regardless of political affiliations.
“The people of Edo have spoken through their votes,” Okpebholo stated. “I’m here as a servant, ready to work for the progress of the state. We will soon witness significant developments, from employing more teachers to enhancing our educational infrastructure.”
Okpebholo assured an open-door policy, welcoming ideas from the opposition that could benefit the state. He also urged those who contested against him to accept the outcome in good faith, noting, “If I had lost, I would have congratulated the winner. I expect the same from them now.”
Senator Adams Oshiomhole, who accompanied the governor-elect, emphasized that Okpebholo’s victory was divinely ordained. “God confers power,” Oshiomhole said, “and we are glad that Edo people will now have a governor who is truly accessible, empathetic, and committed to their needs.”
He added that Okpebholo’s leadership would focus on restoring integrity, improving educational systems, and ensuring that government policies serve the people’s interests. “Edo people can look forward to a government that truly belongs to them,” Oshiomhole concluded, urging other candidates to accept the result gracefully and wait for their appointed time.
