The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has apprehended a notorious drug kingpin, Damilare Ajiboye, also known as ‘Na God,’ after a 12-month manhunt, following a raid on his warehouse in the Akala, Mushin area of Lagos.
According to NDLEA spokesman Femi Babafemi, who released a statement on Sunday, Ajiboye was captured on Wednesday in a bank located in Ogun State. This arrest was part of a well-coordinated operation by the agency’s Directorate of Assets and Financial Investigation, which traced and blocked 20 bank accounts linked to the suspect. The raid led to the recovery of 1,101kg of Ghana Loud, a potent strain of cannabis, from Ajiboye’s warehouse on September 4, 2023.
In a separate development, NDLEA operatives in Lagos also took into custody Alhaji Bashir Talba, a wanted community leader and Sarkin Yamma of Badagry, on Friday. This arrest followed the earlier detention of his two wives and son, along with the seizure of 226.2kg of cannabis from their residences in Badagry on September 18.
Additionally, in another Lagos operation, NDLEA agents recovered over 9.7kg of cannabis sativa and 50 liters of “monkey tail,” a fermented mixture of cannabis and dry gin, from a suspect, Florence Moses, in the Badore area of Ajah, Lekki, on Tuesday, September 24.
Meanwhile, in Kogi State, NDLEA operatives arrested three suspects, Owolabi Dele (42), Ayodele Monday (40), and Olawale Ojo (22), along the Okene-Lokoja-Abuja expressway. The suspects were intercepted while transporting 132 sacks of cannabis, weighing 2,062.00kg, in a Mercedes container truck from Osun to Dei Dei in Abuja.
The NDLEA continues to intensify efforts in its nationwide crackdown on drug trafficking networks and remains committed to dismantling criminal organizations involved in drug-related activities.
