The First Lady, Sen. Oluremi Tinubu has celebrated Teachers in Nigeria and across the globe for their contributions and positive influence on the society.

In a statement issued on Saturday in Abuja in commemoration of the 2024 World Teachers Day, Mrs Tinubu urged Nigerians to give value and deserving respect to teachers.

She said teachers’ insights were critical for influencing the development of curricula that enhance the quality of education and make reforms more successful.

“As a teacher myself and lover of the profession, the contributions of teachers are unquantifiable. Teachers are the shapers and moulders of lives,” she said

The First Lady equally hailed parents and all handlers of children for their roles in shaping the life of each child to become a greater part of the society.

“To the child’s first teachers, the parents, grandparents, guardians and all school teachers, I salute you.

“According to Guy Kawasaki, the Japanese-American Author, “If you have to put someone on a pedestal, put teachers. They are society’s heroes.

‘”Teachers shape and influence destinies, and can never tell where their influence stops. Happy World Teachers Day,” the first lady said.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports the theme of this year’s World Teachers’ Day is “Valuing Teacher Voices: Towards a New Social Contract for Education”.
