The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Sokoto State branch, has expressed its appreciation to the state governor, Ahmad Aliyu, for appointing its members into various positions in his government.
This is contained in a statement signed by the branch chairman, Rashidat Mohammed, and made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday in Sokoto.
“On behalf of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Sokoto branch, we extend our sincere appreciation to Gov. Aliyu for appointing our colleagues in both public and private bar to serve in various committees, commissions and agencies in the state.
“The gesture underscores the governor’s commitment to fostering a just, inclusive and progressive society.
“It also reflects the high regard your administration places on the role of legal professionals in governance and state development,” she said.
Mohammed further described the appointments as a testimony of Aliyu’s effort in upholding the Rule of Law.
She noted that it would also go a long way to ensure that the voices of legal professionals are heard and included in decision-making processes that shape the state.
“The NBA Sokoto branch remains committed to supporting your administration’s initiatives and will keep on working collaboratively to build a secured, lawful, and prosperous Sokoto State of our dream.
“It is a privilege we will not take for granted. Once again, we thank Your Excellency for the opportunity extended to members of our association.
“We look forward to a continued mutual cooperation in our shared mission to advance the welfare and development of our state,” she said.
NAN reports that Gov. Aliyu on Friday appointed Chief Jacob Ochidi, SAN, Khadi Sambo and Lamido Ardo, as members of the Sokoto State Judicial Service Commission.
Other appointees included chairmen and members of the Law Reform Commission, Tenancy Control and Safety of Persons Agency and Advisory Council on Prerogative of Mercy.
