Vehicle Hits Pedestrians in China, 8 Dead
A vehicle crashed into pedestrians in Changsha, the capital of Hunan province in central China, early on July 27, killing eight people and injuring five, authorities reported. The incident occurred shortly after midnight, according to a police statement.
“A motor vehicle hit pedestrians,” the statement said, confirming that eight people had died and five others were injured, with some hospitalized.
A 55-year-old suspect from the area has been detained, and the investigation is ongoing. Authorities have not specified whether the act was intentional.
Road accidents are common in China due to a lack of strict safety controls. While assaults with vehicles have occurred, police have not indicated whether this incident was purposeful.
