Germany, Somalia to Expedite Deportation of Unauthorized Migrants

0 3

Germany and Somalia have reached an agreement to accelerate the deportation process for Somali migrants without legal residency rights in Germany.

Following discussions with Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud in Berlin, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz announced the decision, highlighting a mutual commitment to repatriate individuals efficiently. Scholz specified that the measure would focus primarily on individuals involved in serious criminal activities.

“This agreement supports the interests of Germany’s Somali community, many of whom are well-integrated and contributing positively to society,” Scholz said.

Germany currently hosts an estimated 65,000 Somali nationals, with only a small fraction lacking authorized residency. The initiative aims to address this issue while upholding the rights of law-abiding members of the Somali community.
