Pastor Tunde Bakare Marks 70th Birthday with N250m Charity Donation

In celebration of his 70th birthday, Pastor Tunde Bakare, Superintendent of the Citadel Global Community Church (CGCC), donated N250 million to charity, a gift presented to him by his congregation.

The milestone event, held Monday at the CGCC headquarters in Oregun Ikeja, Lagos, also featured the launch of Bakare’s autobiography, The Least but Definitely Not the Last, with a gathering filled with worship, gratitude, and notable guests.

Expressing his appreciation, Bakare commended his congregation for their generosity. “Before seeking personal gain, we should think of how to uplift our nation,” he said. “As a shepherd, it is essential to care for the flock, ensuring no one lacks the good news and support they need. This gift of N250 million will go to those in need, planting seeds for God’s glory.”

In his remarks, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu praised Bakare’s role as a father figure and national advocate. “Pastor Bakare’s unwavering commitment to patriotism and community upliftment has inspired many,” Sanwo-Olu said. He described Bakare as a “special child of God,” whose influence remains impactful.

Among the distinguished guests were Sen. George Akume, representing President Bola Tinubu; Gov. Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State; Lagos Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat; former governors, including Sen. Gbenga Daniel, Otunba Olusegun Osoba, Sen. Ibikunle Amosun, Malam Ahmed El-Rufai, and Mr. Victor Attah; and Guaranty Trust Bank Co-Founder, Fola Adeola.

Other attendees included former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank, Tunde Lemo; human rights advocate Dr. Joe Okei-Odumakin; the Alake of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo; and a host of prominent Nigerians who joined to honor Bakare’s legacy of leadership and service.
