The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) has announced that direct procurement of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) from the Dangote Refinery could help reduce fuel prices across the country.
In a press briefing on Monday in Abuja, IPMAN’s National President, Abubakar Garima, revealed the development following discussions with the association’s National Working Committee. Garima explained that the new arrangement will enable IPMAN to source PMS, Automotive Gas Oil (AGO), and Dual-Purpose Kerosene (DPK) directly from the refinery for distribution to its storage facilities and retail outlets.
“This direct sourcing agreement with the Dangote refinery is expected to ensure a steady and uninterrupted supply of PMS nationwide, at prices more affordable for Nigerians,” Garima stated. He urged IPMAN members to support this partnership, citing benefits such as reduced dependence on foreign imports, potential job creation, and alignment with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
He further encouraged IPMAN members to prioritize sourcing from local refineries, emphasizing that such support would strengthen Nigeria’s energy sector and contribute to the stabilization of the foreign exchange market.
