Ukraine Strikes Russian Energy Facilities with Drones

The Ukrainian Air Force announced it intercepted nine out of ten combat drones launched by Russia overnight, alongside one Russian cruise missile, with no reported damage from these attacks.

Simultaneously, the Russian Defence Ministry reported that 39 Ukrainian drones were downed over its border regions.

A Ukrainian drone attack damaged a power plant in the eastern Russian region of Oryol, as confirmed by the governor in a Telegram post.

Additionally, Russian media reported damage to substations in the Belgorod region.

Since the all-out Russian invasion began in February 2022, Ukraine has been defending against severe Russian airstrikes, which have significantly damaged its energy-generating capacity. In response, Kiev has increasingly used drones to target energy facilities deep within Russian territory.
