At least 17 Palestinians were killed early Wednesday in Israeli airstrikes targeting a shelter in Gaza City and a residential area in northern Gaza. The strikes are part of ongoing artillery shelling across the conflict-ravaged enclave.
According to medical sources, 10 people, including three children, lost their lives when Israeli warplanes struck the Al Tabaeen school in Gaza City. The school was being used as a shelter for displaced families.
Eyewitnesses reported that the airstrikes hit the school-turned-shelter at dawn, causing significant casualties. Search operations are ongoing to locate those still trapped under the rubble.
The school, located in the Beit Lahia Project area, had previously been targeted in a deadly attack on August 10, during which Israeli airstrikes killed over 100 Palestinians as they prayed.
In addition to the shelter attack, homes in northern Gaza were also bombarded, contributing to the rising death toll. These incidents highlight the escalating humanitarian crisis amid the Israel-Hamas conflict.
