The Petroleum Products Retail Outlet Owners Association of Nigeria (PETROAN) has announced that petrol from the Port Harcourt Refinery will be sold at N1,030 per liter, confirming the refinery’s operational status.
The announcement, made Thursday night by PETROAN spokesman Joseph Obele, follows weeks of speculation regarding fuel pricing from the recently refurbished facility.
Obele stated, “NNPC Retail Ltd has officially announced the PMS price at the Port Harcourt refinery as N1,030 per liter. The product request portal is now open for bookings and requests.”
This confirmation aligns with reports that the Port Harcourt Refinery resumed operations and began truckouts of petroleum products earlier in the week.
Obele added that PETROAN’s strategic pricing team is analyzing the new price to determine the most favorable options for its members, emphasizing the association’s readiness to engage with all refineries in Nigeria.
The association also urged the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) to consider reducing the petrol price to ease the financial burden on Nigerians, especially during the festive season.
“We appeal to NNPCL to explore further price reductions to enable Nigerians to enjoy a joyful Yuletide celebration,” PETROAN stated.
The refinery’s pricing marks a significant development in Nigeria’s downstream oil sector, potentially impacting fuel availability and distribution dynamics nationwide. Stakeholders and consumers alike will be watching closely as PETROAN finalizes its strategic pricing plans.
