Sir Shina Peters, a Nigerian music legend, began his career as a self-taught pianist before joining the renowned Ebenezer Obey’s band. His journey through the music industry was marked by significant milestones, including a transition to General Prince Adekunle’s band, where he played the guitar and stepped in as lead singer during Adekunle’s illness.

While with Adekunle, the band gained prominence, performing at notable Lagos venues like the Western Hotel, Palm Beach, and Executive Hotel. Peters eventually moved on to form a duo with Segun Adewale, creating the band “Shina Adewale.” Though the partnership was short-lived, they released several albums in the 1980s.

Peters’ career reached new heights when he established Sir Shina Peters & His International Stars, solidifying his status as a pioneer of Afro-Juju music and a household name in the Nigerian music scene.
