Suleja Emirate: Hon. Umar Isah splashes millions of Naira, awards lesser Hajj seats to Quranic recitation winners
Honourable Umar Isah has organised a 4 day-long Quranic competition known as Umar Isah Jagaba Quaranic Memorization Competition to help improve recitation and memorisation skills as well as deepen good understanding of the Quranic verse amongst residents of Suleja Emirate.
The closing ceremony which took place at the Suleja township hall on Sunday was described by the Association of Suleja Emirate Qur’anic Recitation Competitors as first of its kind in the Emirate.
Isah who holds the traditional title of Jagaba of Suleja Emirate (Suleja, Tafa and Gurara) said he sponsored the competition to widen Quranic knowledge amongst children and youths towards instilling good morals that would guide them into becoming great leaders in the future.
Isah splashed million of Naira on winners of the various segments of the competition while also awarding Lesser Hajj Seats, electric motorcycle, deep freezer, amongst other packages.
As announced by Ustaz Al-ameen Ibrahim Nasidi the national representative at the competition, Al-Hafiz Sa’ad Muhammad Hussain from Suleja won first position and crowned as the overall winner in the male category after competing in the Memorization of 60 hibz with tajweed (eloquence).
Ustaz Sa’ad was rewarded with an all-expenses paid trip to the Holy Land of Saudi Arabia for Lesser Hajj, brand new electric motorcycle and a large bag other goodies accompanied by cash of N300,000.
Another Suleja candidate in the female category, Hafiza Hasana Muhammad Hussaini, clinched the first prize for scoring the highest points in the 60 hibz contest ahead of Hafsat Muhammed from Tafa LGA while Gurara LGA’s candidate Hafsat Lawal came third.
Hafiza Hasana was awarded with Umrah seat, deep freezer and a bag of goodies as well as cash prize of N300,000.
Contestants from Tafa LGA emerged top of the 2 hibz segment in both male and female categories, so also Hafsat Ishaq and Maryam Ilyas were the winners in 20 hibz and 40 hibz respectively, while male participants Muhammed Suraj and Jafar Lawal from Suleja rewarded with first prizes for 20 hibz and 40 hibz.
Ruqayya Muhammad was the top performer from Gurara LGA for becoming second in the 20 hibz. Meanwhile, each of those who emerged as second and third positions across the different hibzs received packages of cloths, praying mat, flasks, cups, and tokens of N20,000, N30,000 and N40,000 respectively.
In his remarks, Honorable Isah thanked Almighty Allah for the success of the maiden edition of the Qur’anic recitation competition and also commended the organisers as well as the participants for making the events successful and memorable.
“Praise be to Almighty Allah for keeping our lives to witness this great event where the holy book was memorised.
“I wish to also thank everyone involved in making the competition a very successful one, thank you all.”
Isah further revealed his continued commitment to the continuation of the annual Qur’anic recitation competition within Suleja, Tafa and Gurara under the Suleja emirate through a special foundation named after his late mother Hajiya Adama Isah Jagaba of blessed memory.
While commending the effort of the sponsor and organisers of the competition, the district head of Wuse Alhaji Adamu Tanko enjoined the participants to take advantage of the competition and improve in the science of the Holy book as he prayed Almighty Allah to reward both the sponsor, organisers and the participants.
Notable people who graced the glorious event include, Executive Chairman of Suleja local government Hon Isiyaku Bawa Na’ibi, Chief Imam of Suleja Emirate, Sheikh Ibrahim Nasir ably represented by Malam Muhammed Auwal Idris, Arc. Muhammad Rabiu Sadiq, Director of First Aid Group of Nigeria, Niger State chapter, Surveyor Abdullahi Yawa, among others.
