Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), has accepted an invitation from President Bola Tinubu to visit Nigeria later this year.

The invitation was extended on Wednesday during bilateral talks held on the sidelines of the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week 2025, according to a statement by Mr. Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu’s spokesman.

President Tinubu, who arrived in Abu Dhabi on Sunday as a guest of the UAE President, participated in the high-profile Sustainability Week. He presented Nigeria’s position on climate action and other global challenges earlier on Wednesday while also congratulating Sheikh Al Nahyan on the successful hosting of the event.

During their discussions, Sheikh Al Nahyan expressed gratitude to Tinubu for attending the event and reaffirmed the UAE’s commitment to enhancing economic ties with Nigeria. Both leaders discussed strategies to boost investments in Nigeria, with Tinubu emphasizing his administration’s economic reforms.

“Our economic reforms are stabilizing and growing the economy,” Tinubu stated, highlighting how the measures have encouraged foreign investors and international oil companies to pledge billion-dollar investments in Nigeria. “This signals renewed confidence in doing business with Africa’s most populous nation,” he added.

President Tinubu also thanked the UAE leader for the warm hospitality extended to him and his delegation since their arrival.

The upcoming visit by Sheikh Al Nahyan is anticipated to further strengthen the economic and diplomatic partnership between the two nations.
