Fast-rising Nigerian artist Benjamin Idibia, professionally known as 2G Idibia, has revealed that music icons Davido and 2Baba have significantly shaped his musical journey.
In a recent interview, 2G Idibia expressed profound admiration for both artists, stating, “Davido is a living legend and an icon; he’s also a very generous person. He makes me believe that music can take you anywhere you want to go in the world. 2Baba is unique, an intellectual artist. When I listen to his music, it fills me with joy and an overwhelming sense of endless love.”
Discussing his musical background, 2G Idibia highlighted his family’s rich musical heritage, noting that his grandfather was a local musician and trader, and several uncles and siblings are involved in various musical genres, including traditional and gospel music.
Starting his career as a dancer and singer with the group Nation Boys in Otukpo, 2G Idibia eventually pursued a solo path.
Currently, he is working on an international collaboration titled ‘Girls Fever,’ an EP featuring six tracks in partnership with Jamaican artist Dre Khalif.
Additionally, he is collaborating with South African artist PM Rock, aiming to blend diverse musical influences.
Offering advice to emerging artists, 2G Idibia emphasized the importance of patience, focus, and perseverance in the industry.
With his unique blend of Afrobeats and inspiration drawn from renowned artists like Davido and 2Baba, 2G Idibia is poised to make a significant impact on the music scene.
