Leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Pantami Ward, Gombe Local Government Area of Gombe State, have questioned claims that former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Professor Isa Ali Pantami, formally resigned from the party before emerging as the governorship candidate of a faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Speaking after a ward executive meeting, the Deputy Chairman, Yaya Isa, and the Ward Secretary, Ibrahim Muhammad, said the ward leadership was neither informed of Pantami’s resignation nor given a copy of any resignation letter.

They said members of the ward executive committee only learnt of the reported resignation after the Ward Chairman said he had personally received a letter from the former minister.

Muhammad said the chairman informed the committee that he received the letter on 23 May 2026. According to him, the letter was dated 19 May 2026 and was delivered by a man identified as Abba Pantami.

He maintained that the letter was never presented to the ward executive committee or formally communicated to members as required by party procedures.

The ward executives argued that Pantami did not properly complete the process of leaving the APC before aligning with the PDP.

They also challenged claims by the Ward Chairman and the party’s legal adviser that the former minister had duly resigned, saying no documentary evidence was presented to support the assertion.
