The South-South Directorate of the APC Support Groups Council has thrown its weight behind the appointment of former Zamfara State Governor, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, as Director-General of the Tinubu-Shettima 2027 Presidential Campaign Council, describing it as a strategic move that will strengthen the party’s grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
In a congratulatory message dated August 23, 2026, the Deputy Director-General of the South-South Directorate of the APC Support Groups Council, Sir Dr. AK Peters, said Yari’s appointment reflected President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s confidence in his leadership ability, political experience and capacity to deliver electoral victory for the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Peters said Yari possesses the political pedigree, strategic insight and bridge-building qualities required to lead the campaign council to success, expressing confidence that his leadership would provide the direction needed to secure victory for President Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima in 2027.
He also welcomed the inclusion of several prominent APC Support Groups leaders in the campaign structure, saying it was a clear demonstration that the President recognises the importance of the support groups in the party’s mobilisation strategy.
According to him, the appointments of former Nasarawa State Deputy Governor, Silas Agara, Senator Shehu Sani, Comrade Ogenyi Okpoku and Hon. Legor Idagbor into the Support Directorate underscore the administration’s confidence in the loyalty, grassroots reach and organisational strength of the APC Support Groups family.
Peters described the appointments as not only well deserved but also an acknowledgement that the support groups remain a critical pillar of the APC’s grassroots mobilisation architecture.
He assured the new campaign director-general of the unwavering loyalty and cooperation of the APC Support Groups Council, saying the South-South Directorate and its structures across the country were prepared to work with the Presidential Campaign Council to translate the Renewed Hope agenda into widespread grassroots support.
The APC chieftain further pledged that thousands of support group leaders and volunteers across Nigeria would mobilise for the re-election of President Tinubu and Vice President Shettima in the 2027 presidential election.
He congratulated Yari on what he described as a historic responsibility and reaffirmed the council’s readiness to work for the APC’s victory at the polls.
