Australian Open: Sabalenka crushes Badosa to reach third straight finals

Tennis faithful were treated to great moments at the ongoing Australia Open women’s singles semifinal clash as Aryna Sabalenka crushed Paula Badosa, 6-4, 6-2 to reach the finals.

The victory for Sabalenka is also her third straight appearance in the finals of the tourney.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), reports that Sabalenka had a clear dominance of the game and wasted no time in making a mince of her opponent.

Sabalenka, currently world number one, brought her trademark intensity and firepower, and was often unplayable during her 6-4 6-2 victory over 11th seed Badosa.

The two players who are close pals of court were meeting for the ninth time with Sabalenka emerging victorious in six times out of the tie.

The two-time defending champion, playing as top seed in a Grand Slam for the first time, triumphed in one hour and 26 minutes at Rod Laver Arena, Melbourne.

Her victory guarantees her place in Saturday night’s Australian Open 2025 women’s singles final, where she awaits the winner between IGA Swiatek and Madison Keys.

Badosa had stunned Coco Gauff while Sabalenka beat Anastasia Pavlyuchenko to reach the semifinal.

Tennis fans are desperate to see Swiatek vs Sabalenka final, because both players are the top two- ranked players in the world and a showdown between them will be a mouth-watering final.
