Barack Obama Declares America Ready for President Kamala Harris
At the Democratic National Convention on Tuesday night, former US President Barack Obama voiced strong support for Kamala Harris’s presidential bid, urging Americans to back her historic campaign against Republican Donald Trump.
Obama, the nation’s first Black president, emphasized that the country is prepared for a President Kamala Harris, who aims to become the first woman and the first Black and South Asian president of the United States.
Speaking to delegates in Chicago, Obama criticized Trump’s presidency, calling for a new direction in leadership. “America is ready for a new chapter. We are ready for a President Kamala Harris,” Obama declared, signaling his full endorsement of Harris ahead of the November 5 election.
Obama also praised current President Joe Biden, his former vice president, describing him as a leader who defended democracy in a time of crisis. He expressed pride in Biden’s presidency but acknowledged the urgency of Harris’s campaign in the face of rising political challenges.
Michelle Obama introduced her husband with a passionate speech, declaring, “America, hope is making a comeback.” She warned that Trump would attempt to distort the truth about Harris, just as he had done in the past, and urged voters to support the Democratic ticket.
Kamala Harris, campaigning in Milwaukee with her running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, addressed the crowd, criticizing Trump for his support of the Supreme Court’s 2022 decision to overturn Roe v. Wade. She vowed that voters would hold Trump accountable in the upcoming election.
With her campaign gaining momentum, Harris has broken fundraising records and drawn large crowds of supporters, cementing her position as a powerful contender in the race for the presidency.
