Police Arrest 22-Year-Old Woman Over Alleged Repainting of Suspected Stolen Minibus in Ogun

Police operatives in Ogun State have arrested a 22-year-old woman, Azeez Khadijat, for her alleged role in repainting a minibus suspected to have been stolen.

The arrest was carried out by detectives from the Omu-Ijebu Divisional Headquarters following credible intelligence, according to a statement released on Tuesday by the Police Public Relations Officer of the state command, Oluseyi Babaseyi.

Authorities said the incident occurred on Sunday, April 19, around 4:00 p.m., after reports emerged that three men and a woman were seen inside a bush along Ikhasi Road in Kajola, via Omu, repainting an unregistered Suzuki minibus, commonly known as “Korope.”
Preliminary investigations revealed that the vehicle, originally painted yellow, was being changed to white and blue, allegedly to conceal its identity.

Detectives were immediately dispatched to the scene, but the suspects reportedly fled into the bush upon sighting the police. The woman was, however, found inside the vehicle and taken into custody.

The minibus was recovered and transported to the police station, where it was later confirmed to have a Lagos State registration number.

A search of the area led to the recovery of items believed to belong to the fleeing suspects, including three mobile phones, a power bank, a paint container, sandpaper, and a Type-C charging cable.
Police sources indicated that the vehicle may have been used for criminal activities in Lagos State, with the repainting aimed at evading detection.
Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the remaining suspects.

The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further investigation and possible prosecution.

The Commissioner of Police in Ogun State, Bode Ojajuni, praised the officers involved for their swift response and professionalism, assuring the public that all those connected to the crime will be brought to justice.
