Bauchi Police Arrest Two Suspects with Fabricated AK-47 Rifle
The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested two suspects in possession of a fabricated AK-47 rifle and ammunition in Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area. The suspects were apprehended at Boto Market following a tip-off from the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, according to Police Public Relations Officer SP Ahmed Wakil.
Wakil revealed at a news conference on Thursday that the suspects had traveled from Plateau State to negotiate the sale of the weapon for N580,000. He added that the suspects are currently under investigation and will be charged to court upon its conclusion.
Commissioner of Police Auwal Musa vowed to track down and arrest the manufacturers of the illegal weapons, irrespective of their location. He reiterated the Command’s commitment to eliminating illegal firearms in Bauchi State and urged residents to support the police in this effort.
Wakil described the arrest as a significant step in the fight against the proliferation of small arms and light weapons in the state. He reassured the public of the police’s dedication to maintaining safety and security across the region.
