Beyoncé’s Mum Tina Knowles Reveals Breast Cancer Battle in New Memoir
Tina Knowles, the mother of global music icon Beyoncé, has opened up about her recent battle with breast cancer, revealing personal details in her newly released memoir, Matriarch: A Memoir.
In the book, Knowles shared that she received the diagnosis during a long-overdue mammogram appointment. “My doctor told me I had breast cancer,” she wrote, explaining that a small cancerous tumour was found in her left breast, while a larger benign one was discovered in her right.
“The doctor said I was Stage 1A and assured me that my prognosis was good,” Knowles added. She was immediately referred to an oncologist and breast surgeon to begin her treatment journey.
She also described the moment she shared the diagnosis with her daughter Beyoncé. “She took it well, staying positive. I could already feel her mind racing, ready to tackle this with precision,” Knowles recounted.
According to her, Beyoncé quickly arranged for her to see one of the top breast surgeons in the country for a private consultation. “She told me, ‘I want you to get a second opinion on whatever the course of treatment is.’”
Knowles ultimately underwent surgery, which also included a breast reduction. She is now cancer-free and shared her story to encourage others to prioritize their health and screenings.
Her revelation comes as a powerful reminder of the importance of early detection and family support during health challenges.
