Bruno Labbadia Named 37th Head Coach of Nigeria’s Super Eagles

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has confirmed the appointment of Bruno Labbadia as the 37th Head Coach of the Super Eagles, Nigeria’s national football team.

This decision was officially announced following the approval of the NFF’s Executive Committee based on recommendations from the Technical and Development Sub-Committee.

Bruno Labbadia, a 58-year-old German football tactician, takes over the Super Eagles immediately. NFF General Secretary Mohammed Sanusi stated that Labbadia’s vast experience across top European clubs and his UEFA Pro License make him the ideal choice to lead Nigeria’s quest for future glory.

Labbadia’s first challenge will be guiding the team through the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, with matches against Benin Republic on September 7 and Rwanda on September 10. A former player who won the Bundesliga with Bayern Munich, Labbadia has also coached clubs like Hertha Berlin, VfB Stuttgart, and Wolfsburg.

Labbadia joins an elite list of German coaches to have led the Super Eagles, including Gernot Rohr and Berti Vogts.
