Edo Gubernatorial Poll: Atiku Warns APC Against Election Rigging
Former Vice President and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has cautioned the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) against any attempt to rig the upcoming Edo State governorship election on September 21st.
Speaking at the Grand Finale Rally of the PDP in Edo State, Atiku urged the electorate to safeguard their votes and prevent any form of manipulation by the APC. He referenced the PDP’s victory in the state four years ago, stressing that Edo is different from Lagos, where, according to him, rigging has occurred.
“Four years ago, they tried to intimidate us, but we showed them that Edo is not Lagos. This time, we will prove it again,” Atiku said, encouraging voters to ensure that their votes are counted and results properly announced.
Atiku’s comments come ahead of a tightly contested election, with PDP’s candidate Asue Ighodalo facing Senator Monday Okpebholo of the APC and Labour Party’s Olumide Akpata. The election has sparked considerable tension as all parties gear up for the crucial contest.
