The Federal College of Horticulture, Dadin Kowa, has matriculated 1,266 students for 2025/2026 academic year.

The Provost, Dr Umar Abdullahi, said this on Saturday during the 19th matriculation exercise, at Dadin-Kowa campus in Yamaltu-Debe Local Government Area of Gombe State.

He said the 1,266 matriculated students were admitted into Higher National Diploma (HND), Ordinary National Diploma (OND), and certificates across 19 disciplines.

Represented by his deputy, Ibrahim Isiaka, the provost enjoined the students to be dedicated and disciplined to achieve academic excellence.

According to Abdullahi, the college is student-centered in nurturing future leaders in agriculture, environment, and allied fields in line with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

“Our vision is to build a world-class horticultural institution with strong academic standards, sound moral values, and entrepreneurial excellence.

“The college remains unique as one of the first of its kind in Nigeria, focused on sustainable agriculture and environmental management,” he said.

He admonished the students to focus on their studies, warning that the college has zero tolerance for examination malpractice, cultism, cybercrimes, drug abuse and social vices.

On environmental sustainability, Abdullahi enjoined the students to engage in its tree planting initiative, highlighting that each student’s presence would be symbolised by a tree planted on the campus.

The provost said the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) had fully accredited all the programmes being run by the college, adding that the institution boasts of qualified academic staff, including several PhD holders.
